This desert site just minutes north of the Las Vegas Strip once was a lush wetland, roamed by Ice Age mammoths, prehistoric camels, dire wolves, saber-toothed cats, lions, and sloths. They perished with the warming climate, leaving behind one of the world's premier collections of fossils. Sharp-eyed visitors occasionally spot specimens.
